Would you like a worm-like thing stuck on your head right into your brain? ◊ As the main page points out, some of the possible Alien races are Puppeteer Parasites.Because you just performed genetic brain surgery on all of them to manipulate them to feel social and happy. Gene modifying your population to become communal and charismatic. If they already didn't like you, they will be seriously considering a war declaration to put your hollow metal echoes out of their misery. The original species is actually completely dead and extinct, with robotic replicas left to act like them as a twisted mockery of their original selves. From their perspective, it means that everyone has merely copied themselves without passing their souls or actual consciousness to the robots. When you synthetically ascend, you will receive a message from a spiritualist fallen empire stating on how you've committed mass suicide and became soulless machines.

I prefer the Sweep if it's a hostile galaxy and diplomacy isn't a concern but self-sufficiency is, the Pacifier if I have friends that don't like watching me convert billions of sentients into chemically-denaturing goop, the Diffuser if I'm an Assimilator, and the Enforcer if I'm a Spiritualist fighting a gestalt or a synthetically-ascended empire, but from my perspective there is literally no reason to use the Cracker other than for the meme/Death Star value."And that's how I sold an empire's own people back to them as food." The unity bonus it gives as a FP/DE empire isn't even unique you can get it from the Neutron Sweep and still re-use the planet. Even the Enforcer can be used to kill gestalt and synth pops like the Sweep (and without the debuff!), but all the Cracker does is turn a planet that could support multiple mining districts into.a 4 to 16 mineral deposit. It doesn't have the low diplomatic penalty of the Pacifier (it's the highest of all 5 -100 everyone, -1000 victim), it doesn't have the planet reusability of the Sweep, and it doesn't let you own the planet like the Diffuser. The Planet Cracker, in comparison to all of the above, is a meme weapon. 600 victim, -60 everyone, but you're not concerned about that if you're an Assimilator. You literally own the entire planet and every non-gestalt biological pop on it, although, much like the Divine Enforcer, it kills gestalt pops and synthetics. If you're a Driven Assimilator, use the Nanobot Diffuser.

It's a meme weapon, unless you're fighting a Machine Empire, Hivemind, or a Synthetically Ascended empire, in which case it's essentially the Neutron Sweep without the habitability loss and with half the diplomatic penalty. If you're a Spiritualist.don't use the Divine Enforcer unless you're fighting gestalts or synthezoids. It has 4 times the diplomatic penalties of the Pacifier across both types (- 80 everyone, -800 victim), sweeps the pops off the planet, and gives it a -30% habitability debuff for 10 years, but the planet is still accessible. If you want to use the planet afterwards, use the Neutron Sweep. It gives you a mere -20 to your diplomatic relations with everyone per use and a "mere" -200 to that of the victim. If you want to keep your diplomacy semi-functioning, use the Global Pacifier. The planet cracker only generates minerals if you use it on a habitable planet.
