There were constant issues with medication being given correctly they couldn't even find all of her meds sometimes. There is always a constant turnover & shortage of nurses & Resident Assistants. There is no follow-up to issues & no communication on any changes being made. There are a few really caring Resident Assistants but for the most part it was not an enjoyable experience. Two years ago my younger sister and I visited and researched three memory care facilities in West Knoxville in which to place our older sister who suffers from Alzheimers disease. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident You never see a member of management ever just stop by to see how things are going all of the emphasis is on the assisted living side. It is more like a nursing home atmosphere. A lot of the residents roam the halls because they are bored. Even though music has been proven to have an impact on memory patients, it is rarely played. Very limited activities (no games or interaction/engagement). It is very disorganized dirty utensils, no drinks, no silverware.
The food is awful it is prepared upstairs & brought downstairs.

Also directly off memory care"s private dining room, there is a lovely enclosed porch with rockers, chairs and table. In pretty weather, the residents can walk directly out into the the enclosed yard and garden where chairs are provided for sitting. In case of fire, there are two ground exits for them to use.Īs the primary caretaker, I have never ever felt I was walking intro a dungeon. We liked this floor being on the lower level. Also the small number of resident"s this facility accommodates. Many things played in this decision namely Raintree's approach to the resident"s program and care, the clean large rooms and the layout of the Memory care floor. We chose Raintree Terrace as we felt this was the best choice for her.
